An Olympia, Washington native, Dr. Kim earned Bachelor of Science degrees in anthropology and biology from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He received his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Mich., where he served as student scribes manager for all medical school classes and was an active member of the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA). Dr. Kim completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago.

Dr. Kim is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA), the American College of Physicians (ACP), and the Society of General Internal Medicine (SGIM).

With a special interest in clinical outcome research, Dr. Kim has been published in Colorectal Disease and Cancer Epidemiol Biomarkers & Prevention as well as numerous abstract posters presented at national conferences.

In addition to general gastroenterology, Dr. Kim does advanced procedures for biliary disorders.  He performs gastrointestinal procedures including ERCP with spyglass, EGD, colonoscopy, hemorrhoid banding, and luminal stenting.

Previously, Dr. Kim worked in private practice in Princeton, Ill., and Bettendorf, Iowa, where he served as ASC medical director. Most recently, Dr. Kim worked for Digestive Care Physicians in Johns Creek, Ga., a partner practice of United Digestive. He joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2022.
