Dr. Garner completed his undergraduate degree in biology at The Ohio State University in Columbus and received his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He then completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Largo Medical Center. After completing a fellowship in gastroenterology at Kent Hospital in Warwick, Rhode Island, he completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Garner is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Osteopathic Internists.

Gastroenterology is a challenging specialty because it involves several organ systems with a variety of disease processes. The field is always advancing with new diagnostic tests, medical therapies, and procedures to help diagnosis and treat the wide variety of diseases. In gastroenterology, I have the opportunity to medically treat patients and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
