Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology Addresses the Road Ahead for Practice Management and Private Equity

As follow-up to their foundational article in 2019, United Digestive colleagues recently published an article which is featured in the June edition of Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology (CGH) titled: “Gastroenterology Physician Practice Management and Private Equity: Thriving in Uncertain Times.”

Nationally recognized authors included members of United Digestive’s executive team (Mark Gilreath, Chief Executive Officer; Dr. Neal C. Patel, Chief Strategy Officer; and Dr. John Suh, Chief Medical Officer) along with Dr. Joel Brill from Predictive Health.

In the original article from 2019, the authors describe the private equity-backed model for gastroenterology (GI) platforms and how these models differ from the past. The article further explores how market forces are driving the trend of consolidation across healthcare specialties, while exploring the advantages of access to capital and the MSO business model.

The most recent article, from June 2021, explores the accelerated consolidation in gastroenterology over the past few years, the varying growth strategies among private equity-backed GI platforms, and the effects COVID-19 has had on private GI practices.
