Areas of Interest

Certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), Sonia is passionate about helping patients understand how nutrition, daily habits, and preventive care affect their overall health. She partners with each patient to make sustainable changes that improve symptoms and enhance quality of life.

Her interest in gastroenterology began early, inspired by having a gastroenterologist parent. She has a special clinical interest in colon cancer prevention and screening, abdominal pain, acid reflux, Crohn’s disease, constipation, diarrhea, and GERD, as well as nutrition, weight management, and lifestyle interventions.

Sonia provides comprehensive care at Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates’ Piedmont location.

I chose gastroenterology because it combines patient education, lifestyle-focused care, and long-term relationships in a meaningful way. Growing up with a gastroenterologist as a parent, digestive health was always part of the conversation, and my interest in GI developed naturally over time. I enjoy helping patients understand how nutrition, habits, and preventive care impact their overall health, and I value partnering with them to make sustainable changes that improve both symptoms and quality of life.
