Dr. Atul Ratra is a practicing gastroenterologist at the GastroMD Tampa office where he provides comprehensive care for a wide range of digestive disorders. Dr. Ratra’s clinical interests include colon cancer prevention and screening, colon polyps, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), abdominal pain, acid reflux/GERD, difficulty swallowing, eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), peptic ulcers, bloating, chronic nausea, constipation, diarrhea, hemorrhoid banding, and the endoscopic evaluation and management of gastrointestinal diseases.
He performs procedures at the Cypress Surgery Center – South Tampa, St. Joseph’s Hospital (Main), HCA Florida South Tampa Hospital, and Tampa General Hospital.

In addition to medical education accomplishments, Dr. Ratra has obtained a master’s degree in accounting and information management at the University of Texas in Dallas and an MBA from the University of Texas in Arlington. Dr. Ratra is fluent in English and Hindi. Away from the office, he enjoys swimming, traveling, yoga and learning about stocks.
I was drawn to gastroenterology because it blends meaningful patient relationships with a hands-on, procedure-based approach. I appreciate being able to both diagnose and treat digestive conditions directly, often making an immediate impact on a patient’s health and quality of life.
