Dr. Shu is a board-certified anesthesiologist with more than 20 years of experience as both a clinician and executive leader in hospitals and health systems. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to enhancing the daily lives of clinicians and improving outcomes across outpatient and inpatient care settings. 

He has held several key leadership and clinical roles, including Vice President of Wellstar Clinical Partners and Chief Medical Officer and Chief Quality Officer of the Emory Healthcare Network. Prior to joining United Digestive, he served as an anesthesiologist with Emory Specialty Associates and AdventHealth Gordon/Murray. 

Dr. Shu is excited to bring his culture-focused leadership to United Digestive in support of both the team and the patients they serve.

A former concert pianist and aspiring harpist, Dr. Shu is a certified tennis instructor and spends his spare time coaching youth and adult players. He also enjoys playing chess and poker, and is a fan of the Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Falcons, and Pittsburgh Steelers. Additionally, Dr. Shu has been on several medical mission trips and volunteers with the American Red Cross.
