Michael H. Frist, MD

An Atlanta native, Dr. Frist is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he received a B.S. in biopsychology. He received his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C., where he also completed his internship and residency in internal medicine as well as a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology. While there, Dr. Frist was awarded “Internal Medicine Intern of the Year” by the Department of Medicine.

He is an active member in the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

In addition to general gastroenterology, Dr. Frist has a special interest in the treatment of acid-related diseases of the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract, and pancreaticobiliary disorders. He is trained in advanced endoscopic techniques such as esophageal pH monitoring, treatment for Barrett’s esophagus, resection of complex polyps, enteral stents, and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Dr. Frist joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2012.

I chose gastroenterology in order to help patients with a variety of gastrointestinal issues and to be on the front line of early cancer detection and treatment.
