Dr. Aparna Shreenath began her education in India at the University of Mysore, where she received a Bachelor of Science in physics, mathematics and geology, as well as a Master of Science in physics. After moving to the United States, Dr. Shreenath completed both a Master of Science in electrical engineering and a PhD in physics focusing on ultrafast optics at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta. After completing a post baccalaureate degree in premedical studies at Agnes Scott College, Dr. Shreenath received her medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon. She completed her internship, residency, and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine in Chattanooga.

Dr. Shreenath has contributed several manuscripts to the NCBI Bookshelf, an archive of books and documents in life science and healthcare, available through the National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. She has also been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology, as well as American Family Physician regarding gastroenterology-focused topics. In addition, Dr. Shreenath is an ambassador for and contributor to @ScopingSundays, a social media site for endoscopy and advanced endoscopy education and discussion.  She is also a participant and contributor to #MondayNightIBD, a social media forum focused on multiple aspects of inflammatory bowel diseases.

She is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the New York Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, and the Medical Society of Georgia.

In addition to her interest in general gastroenterology, Dr. Shreenath has a special interest in liver and pancreatic diseases and has a focus on nutrition. She joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2021.
