Why Gastroenterology?

Gastroenterologists can show patients their pathology as the eye would see it - a bleeding stomach ulcer, a banded varix, colon cancer. Endoscopic images facilitate one of the best parts of the job - patient education. I get to share the story of their body with patients replete with full color pictures!

Seeing patients come to an understanding of their conditions and facilitating their renewed resolution to take better care of themselves epitomizes the joy of doctoring.
