Dr. Gu began his medical career in China before moving to the United States to pursue his strong interest in pathology. After serving as an assistant instructor in hematopathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he held several positions as a surgical and hematopathologist, most recently in the Department of Nuclear Medicine and Pathology at Piedmont Augusta/University Hospital. 

He joined United Digestive’s Pathology Lab in 2026.

Away from the office, Dr. Gu enjoys traveling, good seafood, and watching college football. He is the proud father of two daughters who are in medical residencies at Emory University Hospital.
