Dr. Forde attended the University of Florida in Gainesville where he received a bachelor’s degree in food science and human nutrition and a master’s degree in nutritional sciences. After receiving his medical degree from Florida State University College of Medicine in Tallahassee, Dr. Forde returned to Gainesville for a residency in internal medicine at University of Florida Health Shands Hospital.   

He completed his fellowship in general gastroenterology at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, serving as Chief Gastroenterology Fellow. Dr. Forde then completed an advanced therapeutic endoscopy fellowship at the University of Florida Health Shands Hospital where he received dedicated training in third space endoscopy including peroral endoscopy myotomy (POEM) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) in addition to bariatric endoscopy, EUS, and ERCP.  For a complete list of procedures, click here.

During his education, Dr. Forde was a dedicated volunteer with several organizations and clinics, where he assisted in providing service and medical care to members of the community with limited financial resources. In addition to presenting at national gastroenterology conferences, Dr. Forde has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Clinics in Liver Disease, Gastroenterology, the American Journal of Gastroenterology, and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.  

As well as general gastroenterology, Dr. Forde’s special areas of interest include pancreaticobiliary disease, management of early-stage gastrointestinal cancers, bariatric medicine, and peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for treatment of achalasia, gastroparesis, and Zenker’s diverticula. 

Dr. Forde joined Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates in 2024.

I enjoy volunteering and have regularly participated in many volunteer activities throughout the years including work with the San Juan Bosco Clinic, Equal Access Clinic, and the Ronald McDonald House.

It was during my intern year subspecialty gastroenterology ward rotation at the University of Florida that I first realized how treating gastrointestinal diseases requires a deep understanding of medicine and mastery of procedural skills. I wanted to become a part of this rapidly evolving field with new interventions that venture into areas that were previously only possible through surgical techniques. Procedures like peroral endoscopic myotomy, endoscopic submucosal dissection, and interventional endoscopic ultrasound allow me to offer my patients effective therapies using less invasive methodologies with less morbidity and mortality. I feel a deep sense of joy every time I am able to assist in obtaining a tissue diagnosis, obviate the need for external drains or tubes, or prevent the need for an open surgery.
